and a Commitment to Community Values
A Vision for Manchester
Mike Nawrath has dedicated his life to serving the Manchester community with dedication, commitment, and a deep respect for its traditions. A lifelong resident of Manchester, Mike's journey reflects a profound connection to the town and its people.
Drafted in 1968 during the Vietnam War, Mike served three years in the U.S. Army, including tours in Chu Lai, Vietnam, with the Americal Division and in Worms, Germany, with the Signal Corps. His service earned him two Bronze Star Medals.
Upon returning home, Mike completed his Political Science studies at the University of Vermont and embarked on a career in public service. He was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives, where he served for three terms. Mike pursued his passion for the law during this time, becoming an attorney through Vermont’s unique clerkship program. He was admitted to the bar in 1980. He practiced law for over three decades, focusing on the intersection of politics and the law, before retiring in 2013.
Mike’s dedication to Manchester extends beyond his professional career. He served on the Manchester School Board in the 1980s and has been the Town Moderator for over 20 years. His work has been guided by a vision of a town government that is accessible, efficient, and forward-thinking.
“My love and respect for town government began early in my career and have only grown stronger. If elected, I will work tirelessly to ensure that Manchester’s government serves its people with integrity, respects their voice, and protects the resources that make our town special. Together, we can strengthen our community and meet the challenges of the 21st century with innovative solutions and a commitment to collaboration.”
